Drag a puck on your half, stretch the band back, and release to fire. The first side to clear its half wins.

How to Play Fast Sling Puck

Fast Sling Puck is a dexterity game for two sides. A wooden board is split by a centre divider with a gate just wide enough for one puck, and each side has an elastic band. You do not take turns: both sides fire at the same time, and the first side with an empty half wins the round.

1. Set up the board

Each side starts with five pucks. In this browser version the board is set up for you and your AI opponent automatically, so you can start firing straight away.

2. Pull, aim, and release

Drag a resting puck onto the sling band, pull it back, and let go. Pulling straight back fires straight ahead; pulling diagonally angles the shot. The further you stretch, the more power you get — and the finer your aim becomes.

3. Clear your half first

Send every puck through the gate to the opponent's side. The first side to empty its half wins. If the clock reaches zero, the side with fewer pucks left wins, and a tie triggers sudden-death overtime.

Core rules at a glance

  • Five pucks per side at the start of the round.
  • No turns — both sides shoot whenever they like.
  • Colour does not decide ownership: any puck on your half is yours to fire.
  • One puck at a time, using only the elastic band.
  • First side to clear its half wins; ties go to a 60-second sudden-death overtime.

Game Modes and AI Difficulty

The Fast Sling Puck game browser edition is built for instant solo play. There is no matchmaking queue and no account: pick a difficulty and the AI opponent is ready in seconds. Each tier changes how quickly the bot reacts and how tightly it aims.

Easy — learn the controls

The Easy bot shoots slowly and aims loosely. It is the best place to practise the pull-and-release motion, learn how the gate behaves, and get a feel for how much power sends a puck cleanly across the board.

Normal — the standard duel

Normal reads the puck layout, calculates trajectories, and keeps a steady rhythm. It punishes careless shots but still misses occasionally, making it the best all-round match for most players.

Hard — fast hands, tight aim

Hard fires quickly and aims precisely, with very few mistakes. You need a repeatable shooting motion, smart bank shots, and patience when the gate is blocked. Expect long rallies and tight finishes.

Advanced Sling Puck Strategy

In every competitive fast sling puck game, once the basic shot is reliable, rounds are decided by timing, angle control, and how you manage the pucks left on your half. These four habits separate consistent winners from players who simply shoot as fast as possible.

Time the gate window

The gate is only one puck wide. When your opponent fires a puck through, the lane is clear for a split second. Watch the opening instead of spamming shots: a single well-timed puck is worth more than three blocked ones.

Use bank shots off the rails

When the area around the gate is crowded, aim at the side rail just before the divider. A shallow angle sends the puck through at a slant and makes it much harder for it to bounce straight back to your side.

Control power, not just direction

Maximum sling power is not always the answer. A puck fired too hard can hit the back wall and rebound through the gate onto your own half. Use enough power to cross cleanly, then let the puck settle on the opponent's side.

Defend with clutter

Pucks near your gate act as a wall that blocks incoming shots. Keep a loose cluster around the centre, then clear two or three pucks in a quick burst when the lane opens. Panic firing usually makes the blockage worse.

Fast Sling Puck vs Pucket vs Air Hockey

The fast sling puck game is often compared with air hockey and with the British game Pucket. They share a two-player, goal-scoring feel, but the equipment and the rhythm are different.

Game Equipment Rhythm Goal
Fast Sling Puck Wooden board, elastic band, five pucks per side No turns — both sides fire simultaneously Clear your half through the centre gate
Pucket / Passe Trappe Handmade wooden board and pucks Simultaneous, fast and noisy Same gate-clearing objective, slightly different board feel
Air hockey Air-powered table, mallets, sliding puck Turn-based rallies at high speed Score into the opponent's goal

Board Sizes, Gate Width, and Setup

Physical fast sling puck game boards are sold in several sizes, from small tabletop versions to large party boards. The measurements below describe the common retail formats; the browser version keeps the same proportions so the skills transfer to a real board.

Board format Typical length Pucks per side Best for
Small About 14 inches (36 cm) 5 Travel, desks, quick break-time rounds
Medium About 17 inches (43 cm) 5 Family play and tabletop sessions
Large About 22 inches (56 cm) 5–10 Parties, tournaments, louder rallies

Why the gate width matters

Every board uses an opening only slightly wider than a single puck. That constraint is the whole game: it turns a simple flick into a test of alignment, power, and patience. If two pucks arrive at the gate together they jam, so clearing the lane is often more valuable than adding another puck to the pile.

Setting up a physical board

Place the board on a flat, stable surface between both players, hook the elastic band into the side grooves, and give each side five pucks. Agree on the start signal, then begin together. If a puck leaves the board, the player who fired it retrieves it and returns it to their own half.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the Fast Sling Puck game free to play?

Yes. The game is completely free to play in your browser. There is no download, no account, and no payment required.

What are the rules of Fast Sling Puck?

Each side starts with five pucks. There are no turns: both players fire at the same time using the elastic band and try to send every puck through the centre gate. The first side to clear its own half wins. If the three-minute clock runs out, the side with fewer pucks left wins, and a tie goes to a 60-second sudden-death overtime.

Can I play Fast Sling Puck online against the computer?

Yes. You can choose Easy, Normal, or Hard AI. The bot calculates trajectories and picks its own angle and power, and higher difficulties shoot faster and aim more accurately.

Is Fast Sling Puck the same game as Pucket or Passe Trappe?

The core game is the same. It is sold and played under several names, including Pucket, Passe Trappe, Fast Track, finger hockey, and slingshot puck. All versions use a divided board, an elastic band, and a narrow centre gate.

How wide is the gate on a sling puck board?

The gate is only about one puck wide, so pucks must pass through single file. Physical boards vary by brand and size, but the opening always stays just wide enough for one puck, which is why accuracy matters more than raw power.

Can I play on a phone or tablet?

Yes. The game supports touch controls: drag a puck onto the band, pull back, and release. It runs in modern mobile browsers such as Safari and Chrome.

Why does my puck bounce back to my side?

A puck usually bounces back when it hits the divider, clips the gate edge, or is fired with too much power. Aim closer to the centre line, reduce the pull slightly, and wait until the gate is clear before shooting.

How can I win more often at sling puck?

Keep one puck at a time, fire in a steady rhythm, and use bank shots off the side rails when the gate is crowded. On defence, leave pucks near the gate to block incoming shots, then clear them in pairs when the lane opens.
